I am a plant ecologist with a broad interest but slight preferences for ecosystems above the treeline. These are the sort of questions that keep me awake at night:
- How do climate and climate change affect the diversity and functional composition of the vegetation?
- How do (micro)climate and climate change affect the interactions between plants and arthropods such as pollinators?
- What is the relative importance of intraspecific variation of plant traits across different environmental gradients? And is this relevant to other species groups as well?
- Can camera-based methodologies contribute to answering such ecological questions?
- How can we use ecological knowledge to optimise species surveys and management/conservation efforts?
