Research, consulting, communication and education in fish ecology and behaviour in both marine and freshwater ecosystems. Scientific advisor for management bodies, governments, organisations and companies.

Fish ecology, fish behaviour and migrations in freshwater and marine habitats.

Expertise in biology and life history of Atlantic salmon, brown trout, European eel, and European minnow. Management of fish resources.

Effects of anthropogenic activities including introduced species (particularly pink salmon, European minnow and rainbow trout), migration barriers, fish farming, pollution, exploitation, catch-and-release angling and hydropower development.

Methodological expertise in tagging effects, electronic telemetry tagging and other fish monitoring methods.
